We invite you to our next concert Lachrimae, which will be broadcast live on Sunday February 21st at 7:30 pm EST. It's been such a pleasure to join our colleagues from Les Boréades in the preparation of this project: when intense work is married with laughter, it's promising!
Freely inspired by Renaissance astronomy and stellar movements, the program is at the antipodes of time. Dowland's seven Lachrymæ pavanes, one of the 17th century's great successes, intertwines with the premiere of works by Canadian composers Trevor Grahl and Thierry Tidrow. For the occasion, we will swap our modern tools for baroque instruments: the sounds of gut strings, recorders, cornetto and organ combined with modern performance techniques gives strikingly refreshing results.
This concert is a joint presentation of Les Boréades, Quatuor Bozzini and the Société de musique
contemporaine du Québec as part of the 10th Montreal/New Music Festival. We hope to see many of you during the live broadcast. The recording will also be available online for six months - and it's FREE!
